JEE Main and JEE Advanced

are two of the most important engineering entrance exams in India. These exams are conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) respectively, and are meant for admission to undergraduate engineering courses in various colleges and universities across India. In this article, we will discuss everything you need to know about JEE Main and JEE Advanced.

JEE Main:

JEE Main is an engineering entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate engineering courses in various colleges and universities across India. The exam is held twice a year, in January and April, and is conducted in online mode. JEE Main consists of two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Paper 1 is meant for admission to B.E./B.Tech courses, while Paper 2 is meant for admission to B.Arch/B.Planning courses. Paper 1 consists of 90 multiple choice questions (MCQs), with 30 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The total duration of the exam is 3 hours.

Paper 2 consists of 82 questions, with 30 questions from Mathematics, 50 questions from Aptitude Test and 2 questions from Drawing Test. The total duration of the exam is 3 hours.

JEE Main is a computer-based exam, and the questions are based on the syllabus prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for classes XI and XII. The exam is conducted in multiple sessions, and the best score of the candidate is considered for admission to engineering courses.

JEE Main eligibility criteria:

To be eligible for JEE Main, the candidate must have passed class XII or an equivalent examination in 2020, 2021 or must be appearing in 2022. The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class XII and must have secured at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST candidates) in these subjects.

JEE Advanced:

JEE Advanced is an engineering entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for admission to undergraduate engineering courses in various IITs and other engineering colleges across India. Only those candidates who qualify JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced consists of two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers are compulsory and are held on the same day, with a gap of two hours between them. Each paper consists of three parts - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics - and is of 3 hours duration.

JEE Advanced is a computer-based exam, and the questions are based on the syllabus prescribed by the CBSE for classes XI and XII, as well as the JEE Main syllabus. The exam is conducted in multiple sessions, and the best score of the candidate is considered for admission to engineering courses.

JEE Advanced eligibility criteria:

To be eligible for JEE Advanced, the candidate must have qualified JEE Main and must be among the top 2,50,000 candidates (including all categories) in Paper 1 of JEE Main. The candidate must also fulfill other eligibility criteria prescribed by the IITs, such as age limit, number of attempts, etc.

JEE Main vs JEE Advanced:

JEE Main and JEE Advanced are two different exams, meant for different purposes. JEE Main is meant for admission to undergraduate engineering courses in various colleges and universities across India, while JEE Advanced is meant for admission to undergraduate engineering courses in various IITs and other engineering colleges across India.

The difficulty level of JEE Main is lower than that of JEE Advanced. JEE Main tests the basic concepts of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, while JEE Advanced tests the analytical and problem-solving
