Special Class Railway Apprentice (scra) Exam Information With Old Question Papers

Special Class Railway Apprentice (scra) is an exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and is an acronym for Special Class Railway Apprentice.The eligibility criteria requires one to have passed in the first or second division,the Intermediate or an equivalent Examination of a University or Board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and one of the subjects Chemistry or Physics as the subjects of the examination. The age limit for lower and upper level are 17 years and 21 years respectively.
Bright young candidates who have just completed their Intermediate (Plus 2) with Science are selected and trained by Indian Railways at its own cost, to be graduate mechanical engineers. On successful completion of four years of apprenticeship,during which the SCRAs study,write exams and undergo practical training,they are awarded Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering.
A written examination is conducted in January. Candidates are shortlisted based on this examination. They appear for interview/personality test and medical examination normally conducted in May. The final merit list of candidates recommended for selection is issued in June. The SCAs join sometime in July.
